Engagement, Roka or Sagai checklist

For a ring ceremony, Roka, Sagai or Tilak, at home, in a banquet hall or a hotel.

Families often remember the venue, food and decoration and forget the one thing that keeps the day: someone to photograph it. Read why we made these lists.

Engagement questions

What do we need for a Roka or Sagai ceremony?

A fixed date and muhurat, the rings, a thaal with sweets, dry fruits and coconut, gifts for the other family, a decorated backdrop, food for the guests and a photographer for the ring exchange.

How many weeks before should an engagement be planned?

Four to eight weeks is usually enough for a home or banquet ceremony; a hotel engagement in the wedding season may need more.
