How GI.EVENTS can help with Jewellery
Bridal jewellery often carries emotional value far beyond its price, with family heirlooms sitting alongside new pieces chosen for the wedding. Some families buy, some rent, and many mix traditional gold with polki, kundan or lighter pieces for other functions. GI.EVENTS helps you set out requirements for the bride and family, so suitable options can be requested. Purity, certification, pricing and terms are always confirmed directly with the jeweller.
- Listing jewellery needs for each function and each family member involved
- Matching jewellery style to outfits, colours and community customs
- Considering rental or lighter options for functions like mehndi and sangeet
- Planning timelines for custom orders, alterations and fittings before the wedding
- Thinking through safe storage and handling of jewellery during event days
What to share in your brief
- Functions and outfits the jewellery will accompany
- Preferred styles, such as gold, polki or kundan
- Whether you prefer to buy, rent or remodel
- Approximate jewellery budget range
Questions to ask before you book
- Do your gold pieces carry a BIS hallmark with a six-digit HUID, and which pieces are exempt?
- How are making charges, stones and gold weight shown on the invoice?
- What are your exchange, buyback and repair terms?
- For custom pieces, when are the design approval, fitting and delivery dates?
- For rented pieces, what deposit, insurance and return terms apply?
Rules worth knowing
- In districts notified for mandatory hallmarking, gold jewellery sold by jewellers must carry the BIS hallmark: the BIS mark, its purity and a six-digit HUID. Some articles are exempt under the BIS orders, so ask the jeweller which of your pieces are covered. You can check a hallmarked piece's HUID with the "Verify HUID" feature in the BIS Care app. Source: Bureau of Indian Standards: hallmarking FAQ
Rules change and differ by state and venue, so check the current position for your date and place. This is general information, not legal advice.

Common questions
What should we ask a jeweller before buying bridal jewellery?
Ask about purity, hallmarking or certification, making charges, buyback or exchange policies and delivery timelines for custom pieces. Request a detailed invoice. GI.EVENTS does not certify jewellery, so these details should be confirmed directly with the jeweller.
Is renting bridal jewellery a sensible option?
For some functions, renting can help a family manage budget and still achieve the desired look. Check deposit, insurance, condition reports and return terms carefully. Many families combine rented pieces with heirlooms or a few purchased items.
Bridal jewellery kiraye par lete waqt deposit ki katauti kaise tay hoti hai?
Pickup par pieces ki list aur unki haalat jeweller ke saath note kar lijiye. Deposit kab lautega, kis baat par katauti ho sakti hai aur return ki receipt kaun dega, yeh likhit mein poochhiye.
Can GI.EVENTS help find jewellers for an event in my city?
On request, yes. GI.EVENTS facilitates events throughout India and can help you request a shortlist of jewellers for your city, subject to verification of local capacity. The site does not list jewellery for every city, and availability, scope and prices are confirmed directly before anything is booked.
