Jewellery at an Indian wedding
Wedding jewellery carries more than shine. There is the mangalsutra, the maang tikka and the nath, the red and white chooda of a Punjabi bride, the temple jewellery worn at many South Indian weddings and the lac bangles made in Bihar and Rajasthan. Many pieces are passed down, and many families now rent a set for the sangeet or reception. A jeweller who understands what each piece means to a family, and not only its weight, is someone they come back to.
What families ask a jeweller
Families ask about purity and the hallmark, how making charges are worked out, what a rental piece is made of, the deposit, and how exchange or buyback works later. Writing these answers down in your own words, and telling us in the form, helps a family feel at ease before they first visit or call you.
Why vendors join the GI.EVENTS family
- Free to register. Registering and being listed under our Free Listing Terms costs you nothing at present.
- You set your own price. You quote your own packages and decide whether to take up an enquiry.
- Written terms first. How the work and payment are handled is agreed with you in writing before any booking.
- One team on the day. Our GI Concierge team coordinates with you before and during the event, so everyone works to one plan.
Can I register from any city in India?
Yes. Vendors from anywhere in India can apply. Tell us where your business is based and the cities you serve.
Does registering list my business on the website?
No. Applying does not create a public listing, verification or partnership. Our team reviews each application, may ask for business, pricing and document details, and any working relationship needs separate approval and agreement. Registering does not promise enquiries or bookings.
Questions jewellery vendors ask
How do I reach more brides looking for wedding jewellery?
Share photos of your bridal sets and say whether you sell, make to order or rent. When a family near you is shopping for a wedding, our team may share your details for them to visit or ask for a quote. Registering does not promise sales.
Do gold pieces need a BIS hallmark?
In districts notified for mandatory hallmarking, gold jewellery sold by jewellers must be hallmarked: the BIS mark, the purity grade and a six-character HUID code. Some articles are exempt under the BIS orders. Tell us in the form whether your gold pieces are hallmarked.
Can artificial or rental jewellery businesses join?
Yes. Imitation, kundan, temple and rental jewellery businesses can apply alongside jewellers. Say clearly what each piece is made of, so families know exactly what they are choosing.
Do I set my own making charges and rental terms?
Yes. Quote your own making charges, rental fees and deposits, and decide which enquiries to accept.
Will I work with your team on the wedding dates?
On events we plan, our GI Concierge team shares the bride's outfit colours and function dates with you, so each look is matched and rental pieces go out and come back on time.
