Prayer meet, Shraddh or remembrance checklist
For prayer meetings, Shraddh, Terahvi, Chautha and remembrance gatherings. We are sorry for your loss; this list is here to make the arrangements a little lighter.
Families often remember the venue, food and decoration and forget the one thing that keeps the day: someone to photograph it. Read why we made these lists.
Prayer meet questions
How do we arrange a prayer meet or Shraddh?
Fix the date and rites with the family priest or elders, choose a place such as home, a temple hall or gurdwara, share the details with relatives, and arrange a framed photograph, flowers, seating, a sound system for bhajans or kirtan, and simple food or prasad.
Who should handle the arrangements on the day?
Name one person to receive guests and one to look after elders, so the immediate family can be with their guests.
