Travel Gear for Mountain & Remote Destination Events
Plan warm clothing, rentals, group kits and delivery for guests at events in Ladakh, the hills and other demanding places in India, with GI.EVENTS.
How GI.EVENTS can help with Travel Gear & Essentials
An event in Leh, Spiti or Tawang, a winter wedding in the Rann of Kutch or a monsoon function in the Western Ghats asks guests to bring things they may never have packed before. Leh is about 3,500 metres above sea level, where the air is thin, the sun is strong and nights stay cold even in summer. A guest from Chennai or Patna is unlikely to own a down jacket, thermal wear or proper walking shoes. GI.EVENTS helps you work out what each guest needs for the place and the season, and asks local rental shops and outdoor gear suppliers whether they can rent, sell or deliver it. Quantities, sizes, deposits and delivery are confirmed with the supplier before you pay.
- Making a packing list for your destination and season, shared with every guest before they travel
- Asking local shops to rent jackets, thermal wear, boots and sleeping bags so guests need not buy them
- Planning group kits, such as a cap, gloves, sunscreen and a water bottle for each guest on arrival
- Arranging delivery to the hotel and collection after the event, with sizes checked in advance
- Suggesting what to pack for functions held outdoors after dark, when the cold arrives quickly
What to share in your brief
- The destination, the dates and whether functions are indoors or outdoors
- How many guests need gear, with sizes where you know them
- Whether you would like to rent, buy, or let guests choose for themselves
- Guests with health needs, such as elders, small children or anyone with heart or breathing problems
Common questions
What should guests pack for an event in Ladakh?
Warm layers matter most: thermal wear, a fleece, a down or padded jacket, a woollen cap and gloves, even in summer. Add sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm for the strong sun, comfortable shoes with a good grip, a refillable water bottle and any regular medicines. Our team shares a list made for your dates, because Ladakh in June and Ladakh in December need very different packing.
Can guests rent warm clothes instead of buying them?
In many hill and mountain towns, yes. Shops in places such as Leh, Manali and Gangtok rent jackets, boots and sleeping bags by the day. Our team asks local suppliers what they can rent for your dates and sizes, and confirms the deposit, cleaning and return terms before you decide.
Is the right gear enough to stay well at high altitude?
No. Good clothing keeps guests warm, but it does not prevent altitude sickness. The Ladakh tourism advisory asks visitors who fly into Leh to rest and acclimatise for at least 48 hours before going on to higher places such as passes and lakes; only gentle activity in Leh is suggested in that time. Elders and anyone with heart or breathing problems should speak to their doctor before the trip. We plan the event schedule with that rest in mind.
Can gear be delivered to our hotel?
Often, yes. Many suppliers can deliver to the hotel before guests arrive and collect after the event. Delivery charges, timing and who checks the items on return are agreed with the supplier in advance.
Who pays if a rented item is lost or damaged?
Each supplier has its own deposit and damage terms, and our team shows them to you before you confirm. Checking the items together at delivery and at return avoids disagreements later.
Is there a GI.EVENTS charge on gear rentals?
No separate charge. A jacket or a pair of boots is priced by the day or for the trip, and that price already carries our coordination. The only other figure you may see is the supplier's refundable deposit, listed on its own line because it comes back to you when the gear is returned.
We rent or sell travel gear. How can we work with GI.EVENTS?
Register your shop on our travel gear partner page. Our team reviews each application, and any working arrangement is agreed with you in writing first. Registering does not promise orders.
