How GI.EVENTS can help with Caterers
Guests often remember the food long after the decor fades, which makes choosing a caterer one of the most important decisions in an event. Cuisine, service style, hygiene, staffing and how the food stays warm across a long evening all matter. With a GI.EVENTS brief you can describe menus, dietary needs and guest numbers, then request a curated shortlist of caterers, with tastings and pricing confirmed directly.
- Describing menus by cuisine, regional favourites and the balance of veg and non-veg
- Planning for satvik, Jain, diabetic-friendly or allergy-aware requirements
- Choosing between buffet, live counters, seated service or traditional pangat style
- Estimating staffing, counters and serving time for your guest numbers
- Arranging menu tastings and comparing per-plate inclusions across caterers
What to share in your brief
- Guest count for each meal or function
- Cuisine preferences and must-have dishes
- Dietary and religious food requirements
- Service style and catering budget range
Questions to ask before you book
- What is your FSSAI registration or licence number?
- Can we arrange a tasting, and is there a charge for it?
- How many service staff and counters will there be for our guest numbers?
- How do you keep food hot or cold through a long evening, and how are dishes labelled?
- What serveware do you use in place of single-use plastic?
Rules worth knowing
- Food businesses in India, including caterers, register or are licensed with FSSAI under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Ask for the registration or licence number on the quotation. Source: FSSAI Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS)
- Since 1 July 2022, identified single-use plastic items are banned in India, including plastic plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, straws, trays and stirrers. Ask your caterer what they serve with instead. Source: Central Pollution Control Board: single-use plastic ban press release (17 June 2022)
- GI.EVENTS arranges no alcohol at events in Bihar, and in Gujarat only where the law and verified permits expressly allow. Elsewhere any bar service follows the law, the venue's licence and our alcohol policy, and mocktails and non-alcoholic menus are always an option. Source: GI.EVENTS alcohol policy

Common questions
Should we arrange a food tasting before booking a caterer?
A tasting is a sensible way to judge flavour, presentation and how the caterer listens to feedback. Some caterers include it while others charge a fee or arrange it only after an advance. Ask about tasting terms when comparing options.
Caterer ke per-plate rate mein crockery aur service bhi shamil hain kya?
Har quote mein yeh cheezein shamil nahi hoti. Plates, serving staff, setup aur transport ka kharcha alag-alag likhwa lein. Phir ek hi menu aur guest count par do caterers ke quotes compare karein.
When does the caterer need the final guest count?
Ask the caterer to write the date for the final count and any minimum number of plates into the quote. Agree what happens if numbers rise or fall after that date, separately for each meal or function.
How do we plan for guests with different dietary needs?
List requirements early, such as Jain, satvik, vegan, diabetic or allergy-related needs, and estimate how many guests each applies to. Caterers can then plan separate counters or labelled dishes. Confirm handling and labelling directly with the caterer you choose.
Can GI.EVENTS help find caterers for an event in my city?
On request, yes. GI.EVENTS facilitates events throughout India and can help you request a shortlist of caterers for your city, subject to verification of local capacity. The site does not list caterers for every city, and availability, scope and prices are confirmed directly before anything is booked.
