Mehndi in Indian celebrations
Mehndi brings families together. The mehndi evening before a wedding is full of songs, dholak and teasing, and the bride's hands are often the last to be finished. Mehndi is also part of Eid, Teej and Karva Chauth, when friends and neighbours sit together for hours while their designs are drawn. An artist who keeps the evening relaxed, works patiently with children and elders, and remembers the family's own customs becomes part of the celebration.
What families ask a mehndi artist
Families ask how many guests you and your team can cover in an evening, whether you make simple designs for children, and whether you can come home for a small family function as well as the main event. They also want to know how to care for the mehndi so the colour comes out well. Telling us these answers, with photos of how your designs look a day later, helps a family choose with confidence.
Why vendors join the GI.EVENTS family
- Free to register. Registering and being listed under our Free Listing Terms costs you nothing at present.
- You set your own price. You quote your own packages and decide whether to take up an enquiry.
- Written terms first. How the work and payment are handled is agreed with you in writing before any booking.
- One team on the day. Our GI Concierge team coordinates with you before and during the event, so everyone works to one plan.
Can I register from any city in India?
Yes. Vendors from anywhere in India can apply. Tell us where your business is based and the cities you serve.
Does registering list my business on the website?
No. Applying does not create a public listing, verification or partnership. Our team reviews each application, may ask for business, pricing and document details, and any working relationship needs separate approval and agreement. Registering does not promise enquiries or bookings.
Questions mehndi artists ask
How do I get more bridal mehndi bookings?
Show photos of your bridal and guest designs, from Arabic and Rajasthani to portraits and names hidden in the pattern. When a family near you plans a mehndi function, our team may contact you for a quote. Registering does not promise bookings, but a varied portfolio helps families pick you.
Can a freelance mehndi artist join without GST?
Yes. Individual mehndi artists with a PAN can apply, and no GST number is needed to apply. Most service providers do not need GST registration until their yearly turnover across India goes above Rs 20 lakh (Rs 10 lakh in Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura); some cases need registration sooner. During review our team may ask for your GSTIN, Udyam number or PAN.
Do I set my own rates for bridal and guest mehndi?
Yes. Quote for the bride, per guest or per pair of hands, and say how long a full bridal design takes and how many artists come with you.
Which henna should I use?
Natural henna only. The US Food and Drug Administration warns that so-called "black henna" often contains PPD, a hair-dye chemical that can cause serious skin reactions. Natural henna stains reddish-brown, and families value an artist who mixes their own cones.
Will I work with your team on the mehndi day?
On events we plan, our GI Concierge team shares the guest list and timings with you and arranges seating and good light, so there is time for designs to dry before the next function.
